Copper and Brass Bars and Profiles
Non-flat and profiled products, in solid or hollow sections, which can be ordered in round, square, hexagonal, octagonal, rectangular or profiled shapes. The surface is smooth along its entire length, which is obtained by a process of extrusion followed by cold drawing, or simply by extrusion. Products are produced within quality guidelines adhering to ASTM B-16, ASTM B-124, ASTM B-187, ASTM B-453 and ASTM B-455 standards.
Bars and profiles can be supplied with two different finishes: sharp edge (canto vivo – CV), sharp edge with curve (canto vivo com raio – CVR), special edge (canto especialI – CE) and rounded edge (canto arredondado – CA).
Principal Applications
- COPPER: Computer buses, electrical contacts and keys; command and control panels.

Copper and Brass Wires
Wires are materials manufactured by extrusion and drawing, provided in round, square and rectangular shapes in various dimensions within a broad manufacturing specification. Round wires are provided with diameters from 0.60mm to 20.00mm, while square and rectangular wires may vary from 10mm² to 400mm² in surface area.
Currently, Paranapanema produces various kinds of copper and brass alloys for diverse market segments, serving a vast number of applications.
Round copper wires are used for the manufacture of rivets, for redrawing wire for the manufacture of wire rope for electricity, for the manufacture of electrical contacts and welded cans for various segments. Rectangular copper wires are used for the manufacture of bimetal components, electrical transformers and power generators. Brass wires are used for the manufacture of costume jewelry, screws, springs and pneumatic valves.
In addition to the company’s manufacturing specification, which includes the alloys above, Paranapanema is always open to new opportunities, new alloys and applications that require substantial technological input.
Rolled products
Rolled products are comprised of strips and sheet, straight and/or in rolls, of varied dimensions within an ample production limit. Currently, Paranapanema produces copper, brass, bronze alloys and various other derivations for different market segments, thus supplying a very wide range of applications.
Rolled copper is used in the production of fins for radiators,waveguides, stamping of electrical terminals, stamping of washers, chutes for construction sites, electronic components, heat exchangers, solar collectors, alcohol stills, decorative objects and household items.
Rolled brass and tomback is used to make cartridge cups, buttons, electrical applications, lamp sockets, machined and stamped keys, radiator assemblies, sanitary metal canopies, musical instruments, costume jewelry, belt buckles, buttons and eyelets, adornments and decorative objects.
Rolled bronze products are used for making electrical terminals, also characterized by the spring effect, and for manufacturing musical instruments.
Beyond manufacturing limits, comprising the alloys listed below, Paranapanema is open to new opportunities, new alloys and applications that require substantial technological support.
Description
Products with a flat, rectangular surface and uniform thickness throughout their length, obtained by a hot and cold rolling process, may be supplied in rolls, spindles, sheets and straight strips. They meet the requirements of specific standards, according to the material to be produced, and can be ASTM B-36 for tomback and brass ASTM B-103 for bronze and ASTM B-152 for copper.

Seamless Copper Pipe
Copper pipe is manufactured by extrusion and can be supplied in straight rolls, spindles and pancake formats, among others, with varying size within a broad manufacturing limit.
Currently, Paranapanema produces pipe in copper alloys for various market segments, thus meeting a vast range of applications.
Copper tubing is used to make heat exchangers, for refrigeration boxes, cold rooms, solar heaters, sugar mills and automotive radiators. Beyond the manufacturing limit, comprising the aforementioned uses, Paranapanema is always open to new opportunities, new alloys and applications that require major technological support.
Description
The pipes are obtained by two distinct processes: extrusion followed by a cold drawing process and Cast & Roll, where the casting of the tube, its cold rolling and drawing occurs. Both processes give the product a continuous cross section, seamless and uniform wall thickness properties. The internal and/or external surfaces may be smooth, finned or finned throughout its length. Copper pipe can be supplied in straight lengths, pancakes, coils or spindles. The products are designed to meet the standards most commonly used for industrial applications such as: ASTM B-68, ASTM B-75, ASTM B-280 and ASTM B-743.
Main Applications and Types
Domestic, industrial and automotive air conditioners; condensers; evaporators; compressors; electrical connectors; cooling components, electrical and decorative products; plumbing, gas and fire utilities.
Seamless copper pipe can be subdivided according to its inner and/or external surface and basically the applications are:
Smooth
Tubes for refrigeration/air conditioning: supplied as LWC (Level Wound Coil), usually annealed and tempered, to produce condensers, evaporators and components used in refrigeration systems.
Manufacturing limits
Pancakes: used in the installment of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
Manufacturing limits
Pipes for general applications: copper tubes supplied in various tempers and generally straight with varying lengths, used in the most diverse industrial branches.
Manufacturing limits
Grooved
- Externally Finned Pipe (LowFin/MediumFin)
- Externally Finned Pipe and Internal Grooves (LowFin tube)
- Inner Grooved (InnerGrooved)
Inner Grooved (InnerGrooved)

Hidrolar® Tubes

The COPPER HIDROLAR® tube is hard, seamless, manufactured by the extrusion process and, afterwards, calibrated in the commercial diameters by wire drawing. They are produced according to ABNT-NBR 13206 standard. Their chemical composition requires a minimum of 99.9% of COPPER.
They present the following characteristics: good chemical resistance; good resistance to corrosion; easy handling; little trend to inlaying; good mechanic resistance; long life cycle and recyclable. They are coupled with COPPER or bronze connections by capillary welding. According to the application and identification in low relief and engraving, the ink in its surface, the COPPER HIDROLAR® tubes are specified in 3 classes.
- CLASS E – Identified by green color plastic lids. They are recommended for installations of cold and hot water, gas, installations of fire fighting by hydrant and sprinklers.
- CLASS A – Identified by yellow color plastic lids. They are recommended for all applications of class E tubes, as well as for installations of fuel and medicine gases.
- CLASS I – Identified by blue color plastic lids. They are recommended for all application of class A, as well as for industrial installations of high pressure and steam
They present the following characteristics:
- good chemical resistance;
- good resistance to corrosion;
- easy handling;
- little trend to inlaying;
- good mechanic resistance;
- long life cycle
- recyclable
