Sustainability 2015: Paranapanema's report is now available
Recent investments are highlighted in the publication, which provides an overview of the sustainable management of the Company
(02/29/2016) The year 2015 was extremely challenging for the vast sectors majority of the Brazilian economy. However, Paranapanema concluded important actions and achieved solid results in its industrial optimization plan and business efficiency, resulting in increased Return On Invested Capital (ROIC). All activities summary of the company can be seen in the edition 2015 Sustainability Report, available on the Company’s website.
During 2015, the Company sought to compensate the slowdown in domestic market consumption by exporting to other markets. This strategy allowed the Paranapanema increase its sales volume by 6% compared to 2014 and also benefited from the depreciation of the Real (-47%), increase net revenue by 14% in the period.
Parallel to the commercial operation, the company also devoted itself to the recovery and upgrading of the industrial units, especially the smelter of Dias d’Ávila (Bahia). It was invested only in this unit, R$ 153 million in the last year, for the increase in yarn production (wire drawing IV inauguration, in January), improving the industrial availability in the production of anodes and increased efficiency in the production of sulfuric acid (interconnection of the new UAS – Sulfuric acid Unit in October).
The achievements of 2015 were guided by the Paranapanema’s transformation in a company with stability and predictability of results, aiming at the business continuity. Currently, the Company has operational management tools, commercial, financial and very appropriate governance, appearing in a select group of companies with good Return on Invested Capital, justifying the support of our investors.
