Event promoted by CREA-BA and Polytechnic Institute of Bahia brought together professionals, students and researchers

(10/26/2016) The industrial production barriers in Bahia and Brazil guided the last date of the Bahia Development Agenda, event held at CREA-BA (Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy) and by the Polytechnic Institute of Bahia on October 20th at the headquarters of the Council in Salvador-BA. The Forum had as its theme “Engineering as a promoter of economic and social progress” and brought together professionals, students, teachers, representatives of entities and companies.

The presentation of the industrial director of the plant of Dias d’Ávila of Paranapanema, Antônio Carlos da Rosa Pereira, opened the event and addressed the factors of competitiveness of the metallurgical and steel sector in Brazil. He cited as an example the Paranapanema itself and challenges of national copper industry, such as logistics, costs and tax burden.

Electrical engineer, with an undergraduate degree from PUC-RS, Antônio also stressed the important role of engineers within companies to overcome such challenges. According to the Director, the professionals need to be aware of crucial items such as cost, productivity, safety and quality, but above all, know how to handle people. “? You have to be able to treat people. Take care of people, regardless of the area”, he said.

The Bahia Development Agenda is a series of meetings held by the CREA-BA in honor of the 120 years of the Polytechnic Institute of Bahia with the purpose to meet, question, discuss and build new ideas for the development of the State through a strong and cutting-edge infrastructure.
